A guided "all-in-one" path from “I'm curious about making this my specialty” to “I’m ready to submit my certification packet” (without spending 3 years in limbo.)
The typical EFCT certification journey takes 18–36 months from Externship to Certified. In that time, most therapists are improvising: scattered supervision, delayed taping, half-finished applications, and a lot of late-night Googling.
The EFCT Certification Accelerator is a high-touch, time-limited container that bundles certification-focused supervision, tape and application support, and ongoing skills guidance so you’re not wandering alone through the middle of the process.
You’re still doing the work, but you’re doing it with a map and guide whose been where you need to go.
Be the first to know when I have new open spots
You’re an EFCT / couples therapist who:
Has completed (or is close to completing) your Externship and Core Skills, and you’re using EFCT regularly with couples.
Is seriously considering or already committed to ICEEFT certification — not “maybe someday,” but “I actually want to do this.”
Feels overwhelmed by trying to juggle supervision hours, taping, Tango, Stages 1 and 2, and the application on your own.
Does not want to spend the next 2–3 years in a vague “I’m kind of working on certification” state.
Wants one person and one container holding the big picture with you — so supervision, taping, and application prep all point in the same direction.
The Accelerator is a bundled, guided pathway that integrates:
Your required supervision hours (via a Certification Supervision Pod)
Your tape selection and application prep (via the Application Studio)
A package of 1:1 support and skills guidance
…so that instead of piecing everything together over years, you have one coherent process designed to move you from “post-training and lost” toward “submission-ready.”
This is not:
A quick-fix, magical, “skip the hard work” promise
A replacement for your own effort, practice, and emotional growth
A guarantee that you’ll pass (no one can honestly give you that)
It is:
A way to shorten the wandering phase
A container for your most important certification moves
A place where you are seen, guided, and held while you do them
Core components:
Certification Supervision Pod
Your 8+ hours of certification-focused EFCT supervision in a small cohort
Focused on Tango, Stage 1/Stage 2 work, and moving key couples toward tape-worthy moments
EFCT Certification Application Studio
Dedicated support for:
Choosing your best couples and sessions
Selecting and refining tape segments
Clarifying Tango moves and Stages for reviewers
Shaping your case conceptualization and written materials
Targeted 1:1 support
A package of private sessions for:
Big-picture mapping and goal setting
Decision points (“Am I ready to submit?” “What needs to change?”)
Emotional support and regulation around the stress of taping and submitting
Ongoing skills support
Access to select skills-focused calls and/or resources (e.g., Skills Lab-style content) so you’re continually deepening your EFCT practice while preparing your application.
Spots will be limited, because this is genuinely high-touch.
Clarifying your certification roadmap
Where are you now? What’s already in place? What’s missing? We’ll create a realistic, personalized plan for the duration of the Accelerator.
Making your supervision hours count
Your pod work will be tailored to:
Truly understanding the model
Deepening your Tango work
Strengthening Stage 1 de-escalation and Stage 2 bonding
Building toward tapes on purpose
We’ll plan:
Which work to record
What kinds of sessions and moments you’re aiming to capture
How to incrementally improve your work as you go
Shaping your tapes and application
When it’s time:
We’ll select and refine your clips
Clarify how they demonstrate required skills
Strengthen your case conceptualization
Completed your required supervision hours in a certification-focused container.
Identified and worked more intentionally with your couples
A set of candidate tapes and a clearer sense of which ones best reflect the Tango, Stage 1, and Stage 2 work.
A drafted and refined case conceptualization and application narrative that feels coherent and authentic.
A realistic submission plan (and, depending on your timing, potentially a fully submitted application).
A deeper felt sense of competence and clarity in your EFCT work — beyond the application itself.
I’m Stephanie Cox, MS, LMHC, a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist and EFCT Supervisor.
Here’s what informs how I built the Accelerator:
I moved from Externship to Certified in about 17 months, while many colleagues took 18–36 months — not because I’m special, but because I got intentional about how I used supervision, taping, and my study of the model.
I’ve lived the part where you’re:
Sitting up at night rewatching tapes
Wondering if you’re “Tango-ing right”
Staring at the application and feeling your stomach drop
My favorite work now is helping other EFCT therapists:
Feel less alone in the messy middle
Focus on what actually moves the needle
Walk toward certification in a way that’s structured and humane
My style in the Accelerator is:
Warm, non-shaming, and collaborative
Grounded in EFCT theory and practical in-the-room language
Always oriented around “What’s the next doable step for you?” — not around perfection.
If you’ve been craving someone to walk this road with you, not just drop more information on you, this is for you.
FAQ section
A: You don’t need a firm submission date, but you should be seriously moving in that direction. The Accelerator is best for therapists who are ready to invest time, money, and emotional energy into making tangible progress — not just “thinking about it someday.”
A: Great question. The Accelerator integrates those elements into one coherent path, with:
A big-picture plan at the start
Built-in checkpoints
Select 1:1 support
Ongoing skills guidance
You’re not just buying isolated services. You’re entering a contained process designed to walk with you through multiple stages of your certification journey.
The Pod and the Studio provide natural breaks for people not ready to go all in. For those who are not ready for certification and are focusing on skill building we have the Pod. For those who have already done the work, are further along, and just need help feeling confident with their application we have the Studio. This Accelerator is for those ready to hit the ground running and need to do it all start to finish.
A: The timeline depends on a number of factors including which trainings you've completed, personal schedule, time commitment and adherence to the model. The average time is 18-36 months for someone to become fully Certified. The goal of the Accelerator is to shorten that.
A: Spots will be very limited so I can provide meaningful support. The supervision pod component is small (around 4 people), and Accelerator enrollment overall will be capped.
A: Final pricing will be shared with the waitlist first, but you can expect this to be a premium-level investment that reflects:
Your full supervision pod
Tape and application support
1:1 guidance
It will be more than a single pod or studio alone, but designed to be less than what most therapists spend on years of scattered supervision and stalled progress.
A: No one can guarantee that, and anyone who says otherwise is not being honest. What I can offer is:
A structured path
Thoughtful, experienced support
A clearer sense of how your work lines up with what ICEEFT is asking for
A: You’ll get a confirmation email, and then I’ll share more details as I finalize the structure, timeline, and application process. When enrollment opens, the waitlist gets first access and the best pricing I’ll offer.
